Shannon Kyles teaches history of Western and Ontario architecture courses at Mohawk College, and has her students hit the streets of Hamilton so they can develop the art of seeing.

For the past two decades, Kyles has assigned a project to her students requiring them to draw a building in the area or to write about its architectural history. The followng article takes a look at the influence her method has had on students in recognizing the value of heritage architecture.
