Theatre backers press for $2M grant
Delays threaten Pumphouse's expansion plan
By Jason Markusoff, Calgary Herald April 23, 2010

A political drama will be watched Monday by dozens of real stage actors, directors and technicians who are pushing city aldermen to reverse a decision to deny a $2-million grant for Pumphouse Theatre's expansion.

The city-owned theatre's bid to increase its off ice and performance space is in limbo, thanks to a council committee's move earlier this month to block a funding commitment council had already approved.

By David Parker, Calgary Herald August 24, 2010

Big changes include a new 150-seat black box theatre, an expansion to the rehearsal hall and space for scenery construction and new administration offices. Facing the river, a 2,000-square-foot restaurant plus patio area is planned which will no doubt become a public gathering space...
