Theatre backers press for $2M grant
Delays threaten Pumphouse's expansion plan

A political drama will be watched Monday by dozens of real stage actors, directors and technicians who are pushing city aldermen to reverse a decision to deny a $2-million grant for Pumphouse Theatre's expansion.
The city-owned theatre's bid to increase its off ice and performance space is in limbo, thanks to a council committee's move earlier this month to block a funding commitment council had already approved.
Pumphouse has since mobilized its supporters. Some have written letters, troupes have raised the issue before shows, and the theatre community plans to fill council chambers Monday as council reconsiders the issue.

Renos pave way to Pumphouse Precinct

...The Joyce Doolittle and Victor Mitchell Theatres will be upgraded while keeping their integrity intact, as will their classy red brick exteriors. Big changes include a new 150-seat black box theatre, an expansion to the rehearsal hall and space for scenery construction and new administration offices. Facing the river, a 2,000-square-foot restaurant plus patio area is planned which will no doubt become a public gathering space...

Theatre shelves growth plans
