City is considering buying and demolishing this building. Why not save it and move it back from the road? One of the older buildings on the north hill? See story below the photo. Also a letter from a citizen in the next posting.

Gough - Re: "Violin shop faces swan song," Nov. 13.
I am a longtime faithful client of Al Gough, who runs the magical, illustrious violin shop on 16th Avenue N.W.
Many a day over the years, I've taken young children and teenagers to see Gough. It's always an adventure to spend time in the shop.
We have never been concerned as pedestrians that this location is a "pinch point."
What is the city going to do when someone in a public consultation points out that we've lost our soul by eliminating places like this violin shop that give us significance? Remove the sterile concrete pedestrian corridor and try to get it back.

Here is a happy follow-up story on this old 2007 thread about the WA Gough Violin building and business on 16th Avenue.

And despite an earlier plan to tear it down, the historic building and its wares will remain on site for a good while longer...
