The topic of the next community heritage roundtable is “Community Heritage Success Stories”. It is an opportunity to learn what other community groups are doing to celebrate their heritage, and how they are doing it. The purpose to inspire communities to think about starting their own projects, and to share information about the opportunities and resources that are available. Several groups will be on hand to discuss their initiatives and answer questions:
- The Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Association, which has produced an excellent walking tour booklet of their community.
- The Cliff-Bungalow Mission Community Association, which is starting a ‘heritage plaque’ project for historic homes.
- The Bowness Historical Society, which recently published "Bowness: Our Village in the Valley"
- The Cathedral Church of the Redeemer, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary and produced a book.
- There will also be a presentation about the ongoing review of the Calgary Heritage Authority's role and function, and how the "heritage community" can participate in this process.
