Historic Calgary Week 2012: Friday, July 27 to Monday, August 6
Join us for walking tours of communities and historic buildings, talks, concerts, museum visits and family events, organized by the Chinook Country Historical Society in partnership with local organizations, individuals and the City of Calgary. There will be many new and exciting events all over Calgary and area. We will commemorate the centennials of the Public Library, the Stampede and more, and will celebrate at the Calgary Heritage Authority Lion Awards. This year Historic Calgary Week is supported by Calgary 2012 and the Cultural Capital of Canada program. Watch for our brochures in June and July at local libraries, historic sites and other locations. The brochure and updates will be at www.chinookcountry.org.
Followers of "development watch", our list of threatened sites, will particularly want to attend Lorne Simpson's tour of the old Calgary Brewery site on July 27, and Irena Karshenbaum's talk about the Barron Building on August 1. Details in the brochure linked above, and elsewhere on this site.
