I see that the old Jacques Funeral Home on 17th Avenue and 2nd Street SE has closed and the building is up for lease. The business dates to 1930 at this location, and the current building was built in 1936. I believe it was the first building in Calgary specifically built as a funeral home (i.e. the building wasn't converted from another use), and is one of very few buildings built in Calgary during the Depression. A bit of the history can be found in an advertisement from a 1950 commemorative Calgary book - the image and the link are below.

I wonder if it will wind up as a pub like the former funeral homes that are now the Rose and Crown (nearby on 4th St SW) and the Cat and Fiddle (on 16th Ave NW)?
