Originally posted December 2007:

Hansen Square is a building proposed for the SW corner of 8th Street and 17th Avenue SW, across from the historic Devenish. The site was formerly a gas station and some small commercial buildings that have been demolished. Hansen Square is the image on the bottom of the collection of developments at the link below. This is early stages and there may be changes to the design.

Here it is thanks to Atlas_Inc at www.skyscraperpage.com (note - this is an old design - for latest see newer posts)

The project would be on the left side of this image (the buildings there have been demolished over the last couple of years):

That empty lot across from the Devenish, that used to have some historic buildings on it, now has a trailer - which seems to be progress of a sort. Word has it that construction will begin in 2010 and there will be a Best Buy on the second floor, reached by escalator (first floor is smaller street-front stores as per the 17th Avenue Urban Design Strategy). Here is more updated information the building, which hopefully will complement the avenue at its most important corner.
