OUR BUILDINGS, OURSELVES: Talks on CALGARY’S ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY.
Explore how an understanding of architectural history can enhance our awareness of our city, as well as of our own tastes, values, and aspirations. Guests include:
Darryl Cariou, City of Calgary Senior Heritage Planner, on the cultural roots and evolution of Calgary’s house designs.
David Down, City of Calgary Coordinator for Urban Design and Heritage, on Calgary’s Modernist architecture.
Linda Fraser, Archivist and Chief Curator, introduces the Canadian Architectural Archives housed at the University of Calgary.
Michael McMordie, University of Calgary Professor Emeritus in Environmental Design, will discuss the process of historical research into a 1920s telephone exchange turned into condos.
There’ll also be an opportunity for questions and discussion. Before and after the talks, you’ll have time to visit with other attendees and expand your heritage network, while enjoying refreshments.
