April 8 - Creativity as an Economic Force

This may be of interest as heritage and arts interests often overlap.

Creativity as an Economic Force:
Community Economic Development and the Arts

Arts and culture. Local economy. Social change. Traditionally seen as entities occupying very different domains, individuals in these sectors are finding creative ways to work together to address some of the greatest challenges Calgary faces. How can the arts contribute to social inclusion and change? How does creativity enhance the local economy? What challenges do artists experience as they contribute to making our city great?

Thrive will bring together several thought-leaders to share how the arts can be used to build community, promote social inclusion and contribute to economic well-being for all residents of Calgary.

Speakers include Terry Rock (CEO, Calgary Arts Development), Joe Ceci (Alderman, Ward 9) and Alexi Davis (Manager, Disability Services, Prospect).

Thursday, April 8, 2010, 5:00 - 7:30pm
Local Library, Central United Church, 131 7th Ave. SW
