YOU ARE INVITED to an evening 'presentation & conversation' on:

The Olmsted Legacy & Calgary's Urban Communities:
The Father of Landscape Architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted

Together, Scarboro and Sunalta Community Associations are pleased to welcome:

Dr. Nancy Pollock-Ellwand, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design at University of Calgary,
who will speak to the Olmsted contributions to our communities and to our city's history.

When: Thursday, May 21
6:30 - 8:00 pm

Location: Scarboro Community Hall
1727 - 14 Ave SW

Through Frederick Law Olmsted, the practices of landscape architecture and environmental design were founded. Having designed such famous parks as Central Park in New York City and Mount Royal in Montreal, his legacy was carried on by the Olmsted Firm which was hired by the Canadian Pacific Railway to design the Calgary communities of Scarboro, Sunalta, South Mount Royal and parts of Bridgeland! These remain examples of the Olmsted principle of "creating a feeling of community through environmental design".

A strong community design facilitates a strong community bond.
