Historic Calgary Week is fast approaching! HCW 2014, a Chinook Country Historical Society program, will run from July 25 through August 4, highlighting our cultural, institutional, industrial, architectural, sporting and military heritage, including the celebration of milestones such as: Heritage Park's 50th anniversary, the Palliser Hotel's 100th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I. Travel North to Airdrie, West to Morley and South to Okotoks and High River to explore the contribution of these areas to our growth as a city and a province. The biennial Calgary Heritage Authority Lion Awards and Gala celebration will be presented during HCW 2014 on July 31 at Theatre Junction Grand. Again this year, we are featuring the ever popular giant heritage crossword puzzle in the Calgary Herald. Look for it in the Herald on July 25. In addition, the Herald will provide highlights of each day's events. For complete brochure with descriptions of the individual events, go to www.chinookcountry.org.
