PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bilingual television program a first anywhere in Canada !
Calgary, Alberta, January 11, 2013 - Today, the Association Canadienne-française de l'Alberta,
Calgary chapter (ACFA Calgary), la Société Franco-Canadienne de Calgary (SFCC) and the Cliff
Bungalow-Mission Community Association (CBMCA) launched a very exciting joint community project.
Hello-Bonjour Calgary, a thirty minute program in both English and French, airs on SHAW TV Cable
10, as of January 14th at 10:30 p.m., when new shows begin weekly.

Join Host Ann Boiteau with special guest Franco-Albertan singer, song-writer, actress, producer and
International performer, Crystal Plamondon, for an entertaining insight into this multi-talented Canadian
Métis artist's life.

"Hello-Bonjour Calgary features present-day Calgarians, Cliff Bungalow-Mission community leaders,
historians and some of Calgary's Francophone community leaders and personalities." said the bilingual
program creator and Volunteer Producer, Suzanne de Courville Nicol-Sawyer. "Their understated
contributions to historic Rouleauville, the Cradle of Calgary, now known as the Mission District, are
largely responsible for making French and bilingual Calgary, what it is today.'' she went on to say.

The idea for the program emerged while preparing to participate in the Calgary Stampede Parade
Centennial. ''The Francophonie float theme naturally focused on Calgary's history which all began “en
français'' explained ACFA Calgary President, Pierrette Messier. Our beautiful festive float was dubbed
''Our Gift - Notre Cadeau' but saddly drew little or no attention from mainstream media." added Messier.

''By comparison, we were thrilled with the excellent coverage from our friends at SHAW TV Cable 10 !
said de Courville Nicol-Sawyer. Years ago, I was asked to step in as producer of ''Bonjour Calgary'' a
similar program, but it was only in French. I have always felt it important to reach out to all Calgarians
and the idea of a bilingual program this time, was naturally born. The program proposal was approved
by SHAW TV in October and we began taping in November.'' said a jubilant de Courville Nicol-Sawyer.

The first series of eight half-hour recorded programs will be aired weekly, beginning each Monday night
and repeated throughout the week, following the pilot program which airs on January 14th.
