The Election Candidates on Heritage Preservation

Postby newsposter » Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:30 am

We have links to written responses from civic election candidates to a heritage question, and youtube footage of mayoralty candidate responses at a public debate. The Civic Camp organization (www.civiccamp.org) solicited questions from the public to ask City Council candidates at election forums and in a questionnaire. A heritage question submitted by Project Brewery was one of the most popular:

Does the City have a responsibility to play a role in preserving heritage sites? If so, what role?

The written responses to date are at the link below (scroll below the questionnaire) http://www.civiccamp.org/2010-election- ... te-survey/ As more of the questionnaires come in from candidates, more will be posted by Civic Camp.

Here is youtube footage of the mayoralty candidates debate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDujPOccevo. The heritage question begins at at 29:40 and finishes at 36:00. Due to the debate format, Barb Higgins and Naheed Nenshi received the question and responded; Oscar Fech, John Lord and Craig Burrows also gave comments.

( A poorer quality clip of just the heritage question, and only the response from Higgins and Nenshi, is posted here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b03sys2yNtk )
