Benjamin Moore goes national with Community Restoration Program Cash and material grants support community and heritage groups across Canada (selected communities - Alberta's is Medicine Hat- each year they will choose new communities - process for selecting 2008 communities begins October 2007 - see below for details.)

Representatives of Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) and of Benjamin Moore released details of eleven Restoration Grants to communities in Ontario for the year 2007, and announced that thanks to an additional $100,000 commitment from Benjamin Moore, the program will be extended to all of Canada in 2008.

“Our association with Community Foundations of Canada dates back to 1998,” said Helen Mullett, Brand Marketing Manager for Benjamin Moore in Canada. “Since then the Benjamin Moore Community Restoration Program has made over 100 grants in 67 communities – a total of $375,000 in financial assistance and over $86,000 in free paint and materials. Following a very successful year in Ontario, I am happy to announce that in 2008 the program will be extended to targeted communities in all regions of Canada.”

In presenting the grants for 2007, Vincenza Travale, Chair of the Board of CFC, thanked Benjamin Moore for its ongoing commitment to the community foundation movement. “The Benjamin Moore Community Restoration Program provides community groups with the materials and the expertise necessary to refurbish buildings and facilities of historical and human interest” she said. “The expansion of the program, which includes $25,000 to support the CFC in administering the program, is great news for communities across the country.” Ontario grants for 2007
The eleven grants, totaling $22,500 with an additional $6.200 in free paint, were awarded to communities in and around North Bay, Brampton, Oakville, and Stratford.

“The year 2007 marks the 40th anniversary for Gallery Stratford as the region's public gallery. Situated in the idyllic setting of the Stratford park system, there isn't a prettier public art gallery in Ontario,” said Jennifer Rudder, Executive Director of Gallery Stratford. “The Queen Anne Style building was designed by George F. Durand and John M. Moore in 1883 as the city's water pumping station. The residents of Stratford look forward to the fresh new look provided by Benjamin Moore's expertise in historic colours and high quality paint.”

“This program is enthusiastically supported by our retailers,” said Mullett. “It enables them to make a positive difference in their communities by sharing something that we are passionate about – our expertise and our product – with people who are equally passionate about the community and its heritage.”
