The 1912 Oddfellows Temple, the home of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce since 1979, was conditionally sold in August according news stories (see below). Anyone know if the sale closed and who the buyer is?
The building is a legally protected heritage site and is not in any danger. Back in the early 1980s it was part of a "density transfer" agreement, which allowed Petro Canada to build a bigger building on their neighbouring site (now Suncor) by purchasing unused density from the Chamber. A more recent density tranfer from the old No. 1 Firehall similarly benefitted the Bow.
