The building is a legally protected heritage site and is not in any danger. Back in the early 1980s it was part of a "density transfer" agreement, which allowed Petro Canada to build a bigger building on their neighbouring site (now Suncor) by purchasing unused density from the Chamber. A more recent density tranfer from the old No. 1 Firehall similarly benefitted the Bow.
